Moscow!
surprisingly awesome! streets and boulevards in a european style, buildings that remind of an past strictly linket to europe, but here and there orthodox churches and soviet buildings that tell the visitors that this is russia and not europe at all!
St Basil in the red square is just great! i saw many pictures of it, especially i remember the one giuseppe (www.giuseppecipriani.it) took when he came to moscow through the transiberian last year... but wuah! no picture gave me the feeling of seeing it just around the corner, with its coloured roofs and so round and perfect lines in the blu sky!
And then the tretiakov gallery, with its russian art, from ancient icons to XIX century's wanderers... and then pushkin museum, with pieces coming from ancient egypt, from mesopotamia and its civilazations which were the basis of our - part of - culture.... and then the impressionists! cezanne, monet, manet, renoir,... and then van gogh, rodin, chagall, de chirico....
It is like coming little by little closer to everythig built my way of thinking and of seeing arts after a long period past where art is completely different from the one i learned to appreciate. Going home so slowly, breathing what is in the middle from china and italy is like aknowledging step by step where i am from... it is like remembering and meeting with new eyes what once was the only reality i knew...
